ADA Title III · WCAG 2.1 AA

What the law says

The Americans with Disabilities Act requires businesses that serve the public to be accessible to people with disabilities. Many US courts apply this to websites and online stores, and the standard used in these cases is WCAG 2.1, level AA: the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

In 2025, 3,117 website accessibility lawsuits were filed in US federal courts, up from 2,452 in 2024, with New York, Florida and Illinois leading (Seyfarth Shaw). Of the 2,019 lawsuits counted in the first half of 2025 by the accessibility company UsableNet, about 69% targeted online stores (UsableNet). Demand letters that settle before a lawsuit are not in these numbers.

What a blind customer hears today
  1. The product page opens
  2. The screen reader says: “image”, “link”, “button”
  3. The customer leaves
After the fix
  1. The product page opens
  2. The screen reader says: “Blue running shoe, size 10 – Add to cart”
  3. The customer buys

What we found on 100 US online stores

In October 2026 we ran a standard automated accessibility test (axe-core, WCAG 2.1 AA) on the home pages of 100 US online stores picked at random. 96 of them had at least one serious issue. The most common: text with too little contrast against its background (73 stores), links without a name that a screen reader can read out (51), images without alt text (21) and zoom disabled on phones (20).

These are the issues a plaintiff’s lawyer finds in minutes with the same kind of test. They are also the issues we fix.

What we do

  • We test your home page, a category page, a product page, the cart and the contact page, on desktop and on a phone, with an automated test and a manual keyboard check.
  • We fix the issues in your theme’s code: color contrast, links and buttons without a name, images without alt text, zoom disabled, missing page language, form fields without labels, keyboard focus.
  • We write alt text for up to 200 product images.
  • No overlay widget. Nothing is added on top of your store; the fixes are in its code.
  • At the end, a before-and-after report with the test results and screenshots, which you keep.

How it works

  1. Reply “Yes” to our email, use the form or call us.
  2. You receive the order confirmation and a card payment link. Payment is made before work starts.
  3. You give us access to the store. On Shopify, you approve a collaborator request from our partner account, so you never share a password. On other platforms, a temporary admin account that you delete afterwards.
  4. It is done in 2 business days. You receive the before-and-after report with screenshots.

We work on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Squarespace and custom-built stores.

Keeping it that way

Accessibility Care

A theme update or a new app can undo an accessibility fix. Every month we re-test the five key pages of your store, re-apply what was undone and fix new issues, up to 30 minutes of work per month, and send you the report.

  • Monthly check, fixes up to 30 minutes, monthly report $39 / month

Month to month. Cancel at any time.

When fixing is not enough

Start over, accessible from day one

If your store or website is old, slow on phones or hard to update, fixing it can cost more than starting over. We build a new one: accessible to WCAG 2.1 AA from the start, fast on mobile, and checked with the same tests before launch.

  • Shopify store redesign: a new theme for your store, products and apps stay $1,490
  • New business website, up to 5 pages, with 12 months of hosting and maintenance $1,490

Fixed prices. All our packages are on the pricing page.

What we promise, and what we don’t

An automated test does not find every accessibility issue, and nobody can promise that you will never receive a demand letter. What we promise is that the issues found on the tested pages are fixed, verified with the same test before and after, and documented in a report you keep.

Accessibility overlays, the widgets added to a website with one line of code, do not change the code the issues are in. In April 2025 the Federal Trade Commission ordered one overlay vendor, accessiBe, to pay $1 million over claims that its widget could make any website compliant (FTC). That is why we do not use one.

Frequently asked questions

Will my store look different?

Mostly not. Fixing contrast can mean a slightly lighter or darker text color here and there. We show you every visible change before it goes live.

What about the checkout on Shopify?

Shopify builds and maintains the checkout itself, and stores on the standard plans cannot change it. Our fixes cover the storefront: home, collections, products, cart, pages and the theme’s menus and forms.

What if I update my theme later?

A theme update can overwrite changes made in the theme. We document every change in the report, so they can be re-applied. Accessibility Care does that for you every month.

Do you use an accessibility widget?

No. The fixes are made in your store’s code and work without any extra script.

How do you invoice?

In USD, from Smart Graphic Sign S.R.L., a limited liability company registered in Romania (EU VAT ID RO42720376). No Romanian VAT is charged to businesses established in the United States. Prices do not include any state or local taxes that may apply to you. Our offers are for businesses.
